After last week’s post on Spellfire’s champion cards, you should now be familiar with four of our races!
Humans, Dragons, Elves, and Golems, along with the whole range of available cards, are each associated with an element. Each card’s element is visible at the bottom right-hand corner. On occasion, you will find a question mark in place of an element. In such a case, any element can be applied to that card.
There are five elements at play, Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether. Let’s learn about how each of these elements react when they meet each other in battle!
The Element of Earth
Earth represents the physical matter of all things in the universe of Spellfire. It is the conduit through which all other elements flow. Earth is particularly strong against the element of fire, and is also effective enough to trap both air and water.
Earth cards are commonly used to form a strong defense.
The Element of Water
Water is the element of life. It protects against the destructive properties of Ether, which has its way of threading through many of Spellfires elements. Water is effective against air, and of course, fire! However, depending on the strength of the elements that oppose it, water could be evaporated by a scorchingly-hot fire, or even moved by the kinetic power of the wind.
Water cards are usually defensive in nature.
The Element of Fire
Fire represents light, heat, energy, and the power of transformation within the game. It is one of the few elements that are effective against air. For example, when air is used as a kinetic force against fire, it will increase the heat and effectiveness of its flames.
Fire cards are often used to attack.
The Element of Air
Air represents kinetic energy, and all the elemental combinations that occur as a result of its presence. It can put out fire, destroy earth matter, form tornadoes from water, and take life from living creatures. However, air derives from ether, and as such cannot harm it in any way.
Despite this, air brings out the true potential behind most of Spellfire’s elements, and some consider it to be the most powerful. They are often used offensively.
The Element of Ether
Ether cards will interest those who are looking for the secrets of Spellfire’s universe. It is a foundational element in the world, and yet also the subtlest of the five. Some think of ether as a type of energy, others as the empty space between everything. For those just starting to learn Spellfire’s gameplay, it can appear to be the hardest to get to grips with.
Ether is neither an offensive or defensive element.
